NBA News - Blazers star Damian Lillard is committed to Portland: That's my city
After a summer of speculation around the future of Damian Lillard at the Portland Trail Blazers, the Point Guard has now underlined his loyalty to the city. Thus, the trade rumors to finally find an end to Lillard for the time being.
Back for more ... ripcity is my city, wrote the 31-year-old in an Instagram post, garnished with a picture on which he slings after a game with the fans. This seems certain that Lillard overline the blazers jersey at the start of the coming season and will not demand a change of wallpaper.
The summer about was strongly speculated by such a step of the franchise star. The Blazers failed in the playoffs for the fourth time in five years in the first round, then Head Coach was dismissed Terry stotts and replaced by Chauncey Billups. Lillard himself had emphasized that the squad still need an upgrade.
Do we really want to win the title? Is that our goal? Then we have to show that, then we have to act accordingly, said Lillard mid-July. Apart from the trade for Larry Nance Jr. and the contract extension with Norman Powell, however, not much happened in Portland in Offseason.
Even before the start of the Free Agency circulated reports, Lillard could demand a trade in summer. But it never happened. The Blazers were supposedly not ready to trade the Point Guard, instead the franchise continues to try to build a title candidate around him.
Apparently the Sixers had hoped that Lillard could be available to be able to grab the six-time all-star in a potential trade package around Ben Simmons. For this reason, it will not come for the time being.
